Cigar Box Special
Thrown together from bits and pieces that I gathered together.
I started with a nice looking cigar box,
a piece of maple for the neck,
tuners that were inline and from a mandolin I think,
that I cut up into individual ones,
a couple of bolts,
a pre-wired pick up, jack socket and controls.
the bridge is an old strat trem
that I disected and cut down for four strings.
The hardest part was having to brace the box to stop the
strings tearing the bridge away from it, but it's now nice and strong.
I used some acoustic strings that were kicking around,
just A, D, G & B, tuned to D.
It's a fun little thing and amazingly it stays (relatively) tuned and plays ok, for a box!
I'll probably keep this as it's the first one -
but if you fancy it you're welcome to make me an offer!
I've got another box and bits to make another one,
so look out for the next cigar box guitar coming soon...!
